Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before your private Studio X assessment.

Do you offer in-person consultations?

No. The Virtual Hair Assessment replaces an in-person consultation. You will share your details and photos so Giselle can review them before recommending your next step.

What are K-Tips?

K-Tips are individual hair extension strands with a small keratin bond. They are customized and placed strand by strand for a natural, flexible result.

What is the difference between Standard, Micro and Nano K-Tips?

The bond size becomes smaller from Standard to Micro to Nano. Giselle chooses the most appropriate size and placement for your density, texture and desired result.

Can I get extensions if my hair is fine or thin?

Possibly. Fine and low-density hair are Studio X specialties, but suitability depends on the strength, coverage and condition of your natural hair. Your assessment helps Giselle review the options.

Can extensions help with crown thinning?

In some cases, smaller bonds can be placed strategically for added coverage. The right recommendation depends on the photos and condition of your hair.

How much do Studio X extensions cost?

Your investment depends on length, texture, amount of hair and customization. Giselle confirms your personalized quote after reviewing your assessment.

How long do K-Tips last?

K-Tips generally last about three to four months, depending on hair growth, care, lifestyle and the condition of the installation.

Can the hair be reused?

The hair may be reusable when its condition allows, but reuse is never guaranteed. Giselle will evaluate it during maintenance.

How does maintenance work?

Maintenance usually includes a removal appointment and a reinstall appointment, often two to three days apart. Giselle will confirm the plan and current pricing for your hair.

Do you work with curly or textured hair?

Yes. Texture, curl pattern and shrinkage are considered when selecting the hair, length and customization plan.

Can you create color or balayage using extensions?

Yes. Custom color and dimensional balayage can often be created through the extensions when it is appropriate for your desired result.

Do I need to color my natural hair first?

Not always. The assessment helps determine whether your natural hair needs color, toning or another preparation before installation.

Do you work with client-provided hair?

No. Studio X provides and prepares the hair used for each customized installation.

Where is Studio X located?

Studio X is located in Downey, California, and serves clients from Los Angeles and surrounding areas by appointment only.

How do I book after receiving my assessment?

Giselle will text your personalized recommendation and investment. If you decide to move forward, your appointment is confirmed after the required deposit is received.
